PAJCCI boosts Pak-Afghan trade links

KARACHI – Pakistan, Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industries has played a vital role in enhancing trade links and purpose of PAJCCI is to promote peace and prosperity between these two countries, said Mohammad Zubair Motiwala, Chairman of Sindh Board of Investment and President of PAJCCI.
This he said while presiding a high-level meeting here at his office. It is to mention that Mohammad Zubair Motiwala will leave for Islamabad along with Board members of PAJCCI on Monday to attend 4th Board meeting of PAJCCI, Economic Cooperation Conference, meeting with Ambassadors, high level government officials and call on meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan.
He said that a business perception survey was conducted in both countries recently and Economic Cooperation Conference would be a great initiative that would produce more opportunities of trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He added, ‘it is a matter of satisfaction that formal bilateral trade has been raising in recent years from $170 million in 2000-1 to $2508 million in 2010-11, with trade balance visibly in Pakistan’s favour’.
Chairman Sindh Board of Investment and President PAJCCI Mohammad Zubair Motiwala said that PAJCCI faced many challenges but we were working on future strategy to overcome these challenges, however that current geo-political environment had been termed on a major diplomatic accomplishment for Pakistan and Afghanistan. He told the meeting that Turkey had shown keenness to engage itself with PAJCCI in a tri-lateral arrangement and further Tajikistan was also interested in the similar arrangement.
