Pakistan has won the recently concluded Asian Champions Trophy beating their arch rivals India by five goals to four in a closely contested final at Doha. It was most disgusting and disappointing that the match could not be seen on any TV channel except for a running news strip after each goal scored or the match is ‘going on’.

Hockey is also our national game and its matches provide a great thrill to the viewers.

Unlike cricket where a good player may get out for a duck and the ones at tail end make a winning score, an unpredictable game, hockey is a real team game where every player contributes and matters throughout the match. It is not the first time that hockey matches have not been shown live on TV; it is a regular practice for reasons best known to Pakistan Sports Control Board. The cricket matches, local as well as at international, even where Pakistan team is not playing are shown live on TV.

I request the concerned authorities to make necessary arrangements be made for International hockey matches, especially where Pakistan team is playing, to be shown live on television to meet the compelling demand of the public.
