ACTRESS Natalie Portman has topped a list compiled by Forbes magazine of the ‘best value’ stars in Hollywood, based on how much money her films have made compared to how much she earns.

The Black Swan star fought off competition from the likes of Kristen Stewart, Shia Laboeuf and Robert Pattinson on the list, which was based on the actors’ earnings compared to box office takings over the past decade.

It was revealed on the list that Portman’s movies make $42.70 (£26.50) for every $1 (62p) she is paid for making them. And it was her Oscar-winning performance as a troubled ballerina in Black Swan which sealed the deal, with the film’s $13m (£8m) budget translating into box office takings of around $330m (£205m) worldwide.

Her comedy No Strings Attached also proved lucrative, making $150m (£92.8m) compared to its budget of $25m (£15.4m) - although 2010?s historical romp Your Highness proved less popular.

Twilight actress Kristen Stewart was not far behind, making $40.60 (£25.12) for every dollar she was paid - with the magazine attributing her success to her role as Bella Swan.

‘Stewart was able to earn a ton over the last three years and offer a healthy return thanks to ‘Twilight,’ Forbes said. ‘Even though she was paid $25 million to star in the last two films, she was clearly worth the money.’

Shia Laboeuf was next on the list, followed by Stewart’s Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson, while Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe completed the top five.

Taylor Lautner came in sixth, Bradley Cooper was seventh and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson finished in eighth place.

The only other female star to feature on the list was The Master’s Amy Adams, who came in ninth - while comedy actor Kevin James rounded out the top ten.

Portman is set for a busy 2013, starring in Terrence Malick’s Knight Of Cups as well as appearing in the sequel to 2011 blockbuster Thor.       –Metro
