MINCHINABAD - The incidents of docoity and robbery have recorded a sharp rise over the past few days across the tehsil, especially in the city, due to which the masses at large are feeling insecure, putting a question mark on the efficiency of the police.

Armed dacoits took away cash, cellphones, bike and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in six separate strikes in the tehsil and also injured two persons when they offered resistance during a dacoity here the other day.

As per detail, veiled dacoits barged into the house of Muhammad Siddiq Bhatti in broad daylight in Tariq Colony in the limits of the City Police. They thrashed the family members and decamped with cash and jewellery worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

In another incident, a cop parked motorcycle inside the house in Tariq Colony which was stolen by unknown accused.

Similarly, thieves stole 65-kg vegetable oil from a grocery store. Farooq Amin, the owner of the store told The Nation that it was the 5th incident of theft in his store within a month.

Meanwhile, a gang of thieves targeted a cellphone shop and a cloth shop, taking away cash and goods worth Rs1.5 million in broad daylight. A sweet shop situated near the DSP Office was also looted by the accused at the same time. In yet another incident, two villagers Muhammad Husain and Inayat Bhatti were injured badly when they offered resistance in a robbery attempt by six unidentified dacoits. The dacoits entered the house of Haji Sadiq Cheena in nearby village Massa Singh Kohna in the limits of Mandi Sadiq Ganj Police. The injured were rushed to DHQ Hospital Bahawalnagar.

Moreover, robbers stole a video cam and cellphones worth Rs1.l million from a cellphone shop and valuables worth Rs50,000 from a grocery store in the remit of Mandi Sadiq Ganj Police.
