Police claimed to have arrested two out of eight gangsters involved in the killing of a couple and their two sons in Mauripur area.

A couple and their two sons were shot dead outside their house in Mauripur area on Sunday by the Lyari gangsters. Their arrests were disclosed during a press conference held on Monday evening. District West Police chief DIG Javed Odho informed the media that the arrested culprits also assaulted the victim woman and her injured daughter before shooting. “The arrested persons were nominated in the FIR. They were affiliated with the Lyari gang war,” DIG Odho explained.

“The victims had also been expelled from the area in past by these gangsters. Now, they killed and raped them to take revenge of their returning back.” Odho further said the head of the family Muzaffar was associated with the MQM and there might be the political motive behind the killings.

He said two culprits had so far been arrested along with the weapons. The raids for the remaining six were continued. “The gangsters did not want any outsider in the area,” he explained. “They (gangsters) only want their writ in the area.” MQM coordination committee condemned the incident and demanded immediate action against the Lyari gangsters roaming in their areas.
