Death toll of Mardan blast reaches 30

| Case registered against unknown militants

PESHAWAR/MARDAN - Death toll of the tragic incident of bomb blast at Nadra office, Mardan reached 30 as four more persons expired in the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar on Wednesday.
After the deadly attack, majority of the injured and dead bodies were shifted to Madran Medical Complex, however, some of the critically injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital where four more seriously injured persons expired.
The dead bodies were identified as Liaqat Ali (30) son of Noroz Khan, resident of Mardan, Faheem(35) son of Naem, resident of Mohabbat Abad (35), Ayesha Hayat(25) wife of Hayat, Khushal Khan(30) son of Fazal Manan, resident of Mardan. All seriously injured persons have been shifted to Peshawar and are under treatment in orthopedic and surgical wards of the hospital.
The injured persons who were shifted to Peshawar identified Nasir(19)son of Missal Khan, Azam Jan(55) son of Akram Jan(55), Mohammad Qasim son of Sherzada, Abdul Qayum son of Abdul Haleem, Samiullah son of Nazir Ahmad, Lal Zada son of Akhtar Muner, Farman son of Ihsanullah, Abdul Sufed son of Shah Nazar, Kashif son of Hamayun Faqer, Atif son of Hamayun Faqer and Sidhra daughter of Sher Bahadar.
The Tuesday blast at NADRA office, Mardan claimed lives of 30 persons and injuring 52 other critically. The responsibility of the blast was claimed by Jamat-ul-Ahrar. However Tehrik-e-Taliban main faction distanced itself from this attack and said that Taliban have nothing to do with innocent people.
Meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Mardan Wednesday registered a case against unknown militants for executing suicide attack on the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) office. However, CTD officials said that no arrest was made in this connection so far. DPO Mardan Fasail Shahzad while talking to The Nation said that 25 people were martyred and 74 others sustained injuries in the attack. He said that investigation is underway into the incident.
Funeral prayers of the martyrs were offered in different parts of the district. Sources said that the suicide attack occurred due to lack of security arrangements at the Nadra office. They said that majority of the federal government institutions in the district, including Passport office, NADRA office, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Company (SNGPL) have no proper security arrangements.
They said that local administration issued advisory notices to NADRA office’s head several times to make proper arrangements of security but they avoided to register a case against him for committing the criminal negligence. The residents of the surrounding areas and shopkeepers also claimed that the incident of suicide attack at NADRA office occurred due to lack of security arrangements.
