The presence of militants pledging affiliation with the Islamic State (IS), known varyingly as ISIS or Daesh, has been unveiled in Johar Town, Lahore, Waqt News reported. “Mehar Hamid has been arrested by the intelligence agencies,” media reported.

According to intelligence agencies, Hamid has accepted that he sent 11 people to Syria to fight along with ISIS.

According to media sources his wife is also involved in recruitment for ISIS. According to sources, she was found encouraging some people to go to Syria, when the agencies arrested her. Both the spouses were arrested from the same spot, according to media reports.

The revelation comes after an eight-member Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) affiliated cell was busted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), for pledging allegiance to ISIS. The members of this cell, three of whom had received military training, proclaimed the Islamic State of Daska, in June after paying allegiance to ISIS and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
