The police recovered a rocket launcher and its rocket from Jhang Branch Canal at Farmers Chak 376/JB here
According to locals of Chak 376/JB, they spotted a gun-type weapon in the sand of canal due to closure of water supply and informed the police. The police reached the spot and recovered it.
Toba Saddr Police SHO Ali Raza said that the bomb disposal staff of civil defence defused the ammunition. He said an inquiry has been launched ascertain whether or not it was dumped in the canal.
Papers withdrawn: Independent Shaukat Ali Baloch, contesting by-election to PP-89, withdrew his candidature in favour of PML-N candidate Pir Ali Baba here the other day.
The announcement was made during a meeting organised by PML-N Pir Ali Baba for him and his supporters at the shrine of Pir Zakirabad. Baloch said that he took the decision on the request of Pir Ali Baba and would now support him in the by-poll.
Meanwhile, PPP city President Sheikh Muhammad Akram, late MPA Sardar Ghulam Abbas Gadhi’s grandson Kamran Gadhi and a union council chairman Liaquat Ali Mayo announced support for independent candidate Ms Sonia Raza.
