Lahore - President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry Sheikh Muhammad Arshad has urged the government not to ignore tourism sector of the country that is considered multi-billion dollars industry around the globe.
While talking to a delegation of hospitality industry here at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Sheikh Muhammad Arshad said that tourism industry is one of the neglected sectors of the country but it is a matter of satisfaction that this important industry is grooming in Punjab because of untiring efforts of Punjab Tourism Development Corporation.
He said that PIA, Pakistan Steel and other Public Sector Enterprises should learn lesson from Punjab Tourism Development Corporation that is effectively contributing to the economy of Punjab.
“Tourism industry of Pakistan has the potential to turn Pakistan into a hub of economic activities as total contribution of travel & tourism industry in the global economy is more than $7.58 trillion, the LCCI president added.
The LCCI President suggested the changes in syllabi which would help familiarize the new generation with beautiful places of Pakistan. He said every nook and corner of Pakistan is worth-seeing provided we glorify it in a way that the foreign tourists would come to see our civilization which is, no doubt, our pride. He said that this would also help improve the soft image of Pakistan world over. He said the overwhelming majority of Pakistani people are peace loving and a little minority of extremists have distorted our image.
