Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah stated that there in only one judge for every 62,000 people in Punjab.

While addressing a ceremony in Lahore, the CJ said that impression that there is no work been done in judiciary is wrong.

"We have very low number of judges in Pakistan especially in Punjab resulting in slow judicial system," he asserted.

Shah further said that we need to have at least 10,000 judges in the province to make situation good. "In Germany there is a judge for 4,000 people and we have a very long way to reach there," he said.

Chief Justice reiterated that judiciary is trying to improve its system as there are numerous loopholes and short comings in it.

"Due to lack of staff, the things are moving slowly but there is a gradual change," he maintained.

He emphasized that every institution needs to work in its given parameters so that whole system can run smoothly.
