‘Women considered party’s backbone in PPP’

MIRPURKHAS - Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) ladies wing President Shugufta Jumani has said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) had given awareness to people about their rights, and the party voters would vote for him and his daughter Benazir Bhutto (BB) instead of the PPP candidates.

She was talking to media persons here at the residence of ex MPA Shamim Aara Panhwer on Saturday after meeting with PPP’s female members belonging to Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts.

She said that attempts were made in the past to dislodge the PPP governments and anti-PPP powers were under the impression that after the departure of ZAB and BB from the political scene, the party would cease to exist. “But today their vision is alive and PPP is a popular political party of the country because the followers of ZAB and BB are carrying their agenda forward,” she added.

Replying to a question, she said that women in PPP were considered the backbone of the party, and they had been instrumental in organising big rallies, demonstrations and public meetings.

She further said that the PPP was working for the betterment of the poor and downtrodden under the leadership of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

She said that she had met with the workers of PPP ladies wing from Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts, and then the process of announcing the bodies of PPP ladies wing in these districts would be completed.

PPP MPA Nusrat Sultana Khawaja and MPA Khairun Nisa Mughal were also present on the occasion.
