ISLAMABAD - Mansoor Ijaz, the main character in the memogate scandal, has claimed that Interior Minister Rehman Malik is threatening him directly and indirectly, saying “He is ready to come to Pakistan provided the chief justice holds out assurance to him that he will be given security and will be safe.” According to a private TV channel, Ijaz, who sent an email to the chief justice of Pakistan, said if he stuck in Pakistan, his business and family life would be affected.Demanding assurance from the chief justice for his security and safety in Pakistan, Ijaz had set the condition that if he came to Pakistan for recording statement before the commission probing the memogate scandal he would return from the next available flight. Ijaz said he feared that he could be help for a year in Pakistan.Ijaz claimed that he proposed lifting of travel restrictions on Husain Haqqani. Husain’s presence abroad is essential if the memo commission opts to record his (Ijaz’s) statement outside Pakistan, he added.
