LAHORE – A meeting of Standing Committee on Narcotics Control was held here at CCPO Office on Monday under the chairmanship of its Chairman Murtaza Javed Abbasi.

According to a police spokesman, the Capital City Police Officer Ahmad Raza Tahir, who is also Chairman of Lahore Drug Free City Project and other members of the Standing Committee, also attended the meeting.

DIG Operations Ghulam Mehmood Dogar and the Focal Person of the project SSP D&I Shariq Kamal was also present on the occasion. During the meeting, a detailed review was made on the progress of announcement made by the government to make Lahore a drug free city at the earliest. CCPO Lahore Ahmad Raza Tahir gave a detailed presentation and briefing to the members of the Standing Committee regarding awareness campaign launched against drug in educational institutions located at Lahore.

It was decided in the meeting that narcotics drug barons, traffickers and peddlers would be arrested and prosecuted through a joint investigation team. It was also informed that the list has been updated in order to smash drug trafficking in Lahore through Rapid Enforcement Teams. 

The CCPO informed that hectic efforts are being made to break the chain of drug supply to smashing dens and effectively checking the transit of the City. He pointed out that checking of vehicles will be done upon information randomly at exit and entry points of the City.

He informed the Standing Committee that the sale of narcotics would be checked in streets of the City and the peddlers would be tracked by proactive policing.
