ISLAMABAD - On behalf of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Secretary Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) Akhlaq Ahmad Tarar distributed cheques worth Rs 3 million among NUST students who excelled in an international business plan competition, Global Innovation through Science & Technology (GIST), Battle of Ideas World Cup 2011, held in Istanbul from December 3 to 6. The cheques award ceremony was held at NUST main Campus here on Monday, says a press release.

Secretary MoST commended the NUST teams (Sahara and Saltech) for their impressive performance at a global business plan contest in which best entrepreneurs from 43 countries participated in. The Secretary felicitated the NUST teams, saying the youth of Pakistan had no dearth of potential and the performance of NUST students was its true reflection.  

It is pertinent to mention here that these young NUST entrepreneurs called on the Prime Minister after proving their mettle before the world. The Premier appreciated the young minds on making the nation proud with their cherished accomplishment in the mega event. He also announced a prize of Rs. 3 million for the students.

The Chief Executive lauded the role of National University of Sciences and Technology for nourishing budding entrepreneurs and intellects, who play vital role in the national development.     

Earlier, Secy MoST also attended an important consultative conference between NUST high-ups and a team of World Technopolis Association. The conference was held in connection with the development of NUST Science and Technology Park.
