Les Miserables stays No 1

LES Miserables has beat off competition from Django Unchained and Lincoln to remain at the top of the UK box office for the third weekend running. The musical, starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe, took more than £4million over the week. Django Unchained, directed by Quentin Tarantino, settled for second place while new entry Lincoln ranked third. Ang Lee’s Life of Pi dropped one spot to four while Zero Dark Thirty debuted at five. The top five films at the UK box office have all been nominated for the best picture Oscar at next month’s Academy Awards. Meanwhile, Movie 43, which has been slammed by critics, was a new entry at number seven. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new film, The Last Stand, limped in at number ten. –Metro
