Islamabad - Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has issued 30 notices to the unhygienic food outlets on account of unsatisfactory sanitary conditions and violations of hygiene and sanitation laws. In their ongoing drive against sale of sub-standard food items, the inspection teams of food and health departments, conducted 82 inspections and issued 30 notices to the unhygienic food outlets during the last week.

According to a spokesman of ICT here on Friday, the inspection teams also confiscated 100 broken and filthy utensils. The inspection teams of health and food departments took various food stuff sample and sent them to the laboratory for analysis.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director, Food, Muhammad Afzal, during surprise checking of food outlets on Thursday in G-9 markaz, imposed fines amounting Rs21,300 on the restaurants and hotel owners for poor sanitary and hygiene conditions at the premises of food outlets.  Assistant Commissioner, Shalimar, Naila Ishtiaque, during checking of meat shops in G-10 markaz, imposed fines worth Rs. 31,500 on the meat sellers for poor sanitary conditions.

Shops imposed heavy fines include Capital Meat Shop, Kaka Gee meat shop, Kashmir Mutton and chicken shop, Saeed meat shop, Shakeel mutton shop, Iftikhar meat shop and Al-Khair meat shop.

The Administration had directed the food outlets to ensure compliance of food safety laws failing which stern action would be taken against the violators.
