LAHORE - Pakistan Twenty20 Captain Shahid Afridi called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif yesterday to discuss promotion of cricket in the province.
“Cricket is a popular game of Pakistan which is full of talent. Pakistani cricketers, who have won laurels on international level, are great ambassadors of the country,” Shahbaz said while speaking on the occasion. Saying the sportsman spirit is the real essence of any game, the chief minister said that promotion of sports was proving helpful in enhancing healthy activities and eliminating trends of extremism. “This is why Punjab Government is promoting sports activities,” he added.
The CM was of the view that sports play a vital role in highlighting soft image of the country. He assured the cricketer that all out facilities will be provided for the promotion of games including cricket in future.
