rawalpindi - Rawalpindi Cantonment Board awarded Rs50 million worth of contract to a private party for collecting shop signboards’ fee.
The RCB spokesman Qaiser Mahmood said that the contract was awarded through auction and the agreement was signed on Tuesday. Now, the party is authorised to collect fee from the shopkeepers running their businesses in cantonment areas for signboards on their shops.
The shopkeepers can install sign boards up to 20 feet without any charges and will have to pay charges on the larger boards according to the rates approved by the RCB board, the spokesman said. Earlier, the fee was being collected by the RCB officials and in some areas, the shopkeepers were not paying the fee due to which it was decided to outsource the collection of fee for signboards, he said. The contract for fee collection was given first time and the contractor will be bound to collect the fee fixed by the civic body, he added.
