Karachi  - Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal paid an emergency visit to various areas of the city on Tuesday night when the first monsoon downpour hit the city. During the visit, which continued late night, the city nazim was accompanied by top officials of city government and water board including DCO Karachi Jawed Hanif, EDO Municipal services Masood Alam and officers of works and services department. The city nazim directed the concerned officers to immediately call upon the staff of municipal services, health, water board, parks and fire brigade on their duties and to set up a pool of necessary machinery and vehicles for instant dispatch to any area in case of any emergency. Meanwhile the city government established rain emergency centre at the City Nazim secretariat where staff and a grade 18 officer would be present round the clock where citizens have been asked to register their complaints regarding rain. He also directed to dispatch the community police to the areas from where complaints of traffic jam were received so that they could help restore the flow of traffic. City Nazim also went to different areas including Shahrae faisal, I.I Chundrigar Road, M.A Jinnah Road, University Road, Liaqatabad, Nazimabad, Lyari, Saddar, New Karachi, North Karachi, and Shah Faisal Town where he also instructed for early draining of rain water. It may be noted that the city government did not receive any complaint regarding staying of rain water at the roads, flyovers and underpasses constructed during the last two and half a year.
