ISLAMABAD - The participants of training course on "challenge of sustained water supply services" arranged by Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR ) visited different water supply schemes in the Capital here on Wednesday. The key resource person of the course Jan Ten Visscher and Frank Van Steenbergen from Netherland showed the participants different samples of contaminated water and told them about the diseases caused by these water. The participants also monitored the delivery of safe drinking water through systematic and detailed assessment of water supply systems, prioritisation of hazards, operational monitoring of barriers or control measures and establishment of an organised and structured system to minimise the chance of failure through oversight or lapse of management. The training programme is being sponsored by Detuch government and the key resources persons are international experts from Netherlands. This training is giving international perspective and best practice to the trainers. The course will cover four modules that include Water Supply and Water Resources protection, Water Treatment, Operation and Maintenance and Water Safety plans.
