ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) employees Wednesday morning called off their strike after successful negotiations with the PTCL management. According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked by Ismail M Taha on behalf of the PTCL management and nine representatives of Mutahidda Workers Alliance (MWA), about 14 demands of the employees were met accordingly and the notification with various other benefits to the workers was issued to regularize PTCL contractual employees. According to the notification available with the this news agency, the fresh regularised employees would be entitled to gratuity and pension under Employees Old Age Benefit Institution Fund. The employees would deserve loan for house building, advance for motorcycle, marriage grant and annual bonus. The salaries of contractual and regular employees have been raised by 35 per cent after their successful negotiations with the management. The contractual employees have been regularised while they will be given all fringe benefits. This was decided at the negotiations to form a committee for increase in salaries and this committee submitted its proposals to the government and the PTCL management that were approved accordingly. According to the notification, the PTCL management agreed to confirm all the NCPG employees under the company policy; EOBI pension will be arranged as EOBI laws; superannuation age of employees will be 60 years; disciplinary proceedings will be in accordance with PTCL regulations and labour laws. Moreover, death compensation will be given to NCPG employees as per prevailing policy; gratuity equal to one month last drawn Basic Pay shall remain in force; employees will be entitled for overtime at double the ordinary rate of basic pay; House building and Motorcycle advances; Burial charges; Annual bonus; Education grant; Allotment of PTCL quarters. All the non-management employees shall get a Special Allowance equal to 35 per cent of the current basic pay. The workers' representatives agreed to call off their strike immediately after the agreement was signed and a notification was issued by the PTCL management.
