MUZAFFARGARH - The government was supplying oil to all the power plants while the current electricity crisis was due to some technical faults and a windstorm in Muzaffargarh but the faults would be removed today, claimed Qamar Zaman Kaira, the federal minister for information and broadcasting, here on Monday.

Accompanied by Water and Power Minister Ahmed Mukhtar at Thermal Power station rest house, Karia told the media that some major problems had occurred due to the windstorm in the district, adding that five polls of main 500KV transmission line were damaged due to it and power was suspended from the system causing the crisis. He said that 300MW electricity suspended from Muzaffargarh would again be added on Sunday night to the system while 350MW would be restored with the functioning of Lal Pir Power Plant. However, it would take 2-3 days to restore 350 MW more from Park Jin Power Plant which would further help overcoming the current problem, Kaira added.

He said 350MW would be added soon to the system with repairing a part of Chashma Nuclear Power Plant. Guddu Power Plant will also start functioning soon and problems emerged due to the windstorm would be resolved by minimising the current shortage of 2000MW. The information minister said that unscheduled loadshedding would end after addition of 2000MW to the system.

MPA Maher Irshad Syial was present on the occasion but MNA Jamshad Dasti and local office bearers of PPP Muzaffargarh did not attend the meeting.
