KARAK - At least 17 passengers were burnt alive when a passenger van going to DI Khan form Peshawar caught fire after colliding with a truck coming from the opposite direction on Indus Highway here on Tuesday.

Sources informed that a DI Khan-bound passenger van from Peshawar caught fire when its gas cylinder exploded as a result of collision with a truck loaded with mangoes, which was coming from the opposite direction on Indus Highway near Amberi Kalla Chowk in the limitations of Takht-e-Nusrati police station.

All the passengers on board the van were burnt alive as soon as the vehicle caught fire. Eyewitness Khalid Khattak informed this scribe that the truck was also damaged due to the fire but both the driver and the cleaner managed to escape after the incident.

After the incident, police along with the local people reached the crime scene and pulled the burnt bodies from the wreckage. The bodies were shifted to district headquarters hospital Karak.
