LAHORE/KARACHI - Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed claimed on Tuesday that PTI took part in the Presidential polls for blocking a freeway to the PML-N candidate to the President’s office.  Mehmood talking to the media outside the Punjab Assembly maintained: “President elect Mamnoon Hussain represents only the PML-N and he will not be accepted as the President of the entire country”.

Meanwhile, PTI Punjab president, Ijaz Chaudhry addressing party leaders and workers at an iftar dinner claimed that his party would launch a drive after Eid to protect democracy, which was under fire in the rule of PML-N.

He alleged that PML-N was using State resources to run the election campaign for the by-polls, while the Election Commission was playing the role of a silent spectator. Meanwhile, PTI Labour Wing president Zubair Khan said that rights of labourers and workers should be protected, so they could play their vital role for national prosperity.

He said this while addressing a news conference at the Press Club in Karachi on Tuesday. Various CBA labour union officials and members of executive committee were also present on the occasion who announced to join the PTI.

He says that indifferent attitude towards workers’ interest and privatisation of national-level organisations is a national offence. The KESC employees and clientele have been paying the price of this felony, he said adding lesser-than-capacity production, announced and unannounced power outages and resulting migration of industries had caused agonising unemployment.

“Thus the city of lights has been surrounded by darkness and we deem that the privatisation should be reverted since the KESC administration has failed to perform as per the agreement,” he said. He said they congratulate Azizur Rehman and his team for joining the PTI.

On the occasion, Labour Action Committee Joint Secretary and Chairman Azizur Rehman said that they have decided to resign, protesting against the negligent behaviour of the leadership. Subsequently, other office-bearers also spoke to the gathering and declared their resignation and amalgamation with the PTI.
