LAHORE - Jamaat e Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan has said that the anti-Islam forces are targeting the Muslims all over the world and carrying out their vendetta while the Muslim rulers are silent and serving the enemy interests.

Addressing an Iftar dinner hosted by JI Deputy Secretary General Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, he said that the blood of the Muslims was being shed in Kashmir, Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan and now in Egypt. JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch and JI Punjab chief Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar also spoke on the occasion.

Munawar said that in Bangladesh, JI leaders who had rendered huge sacrifices to save Pakistan from disintegration were being tried and convicted by a so-called War Crimes Tribunal.

He said that Prof. Ghulam Azam and his colleagues had offered sacrifices for the sake of Pakistan but the Foreign Ministry was disowning them and terming the trial an internal issue of Bangladesh.  Meanwhile, the JI Ameer, in a statement, has expressed strongly reacted to the reports about the privatisation of the Pakistan Steel Mills, Karachi, and said that instead of throwing away national institutions for a few coins, the government should strive for their rehabilitation.

The Pakistan Steel, he said, was a great national asset but the rulers were bent upon ruining the country’s economy.

Munawar announced that the privatisation of the Steel Mills would not be tolerated in any case.

He said the federal and the provincial governments were responsible for the present situation in the Pakistan Steel, the PIA, Railways, etc.

He said that government’s lack of interest in saving the Steel Mills showed that it wanted go get rid of the institution.

He said that thousands of Steel Mills workers were starving due to non payment of salaries.

He called upon the Prime Minister and the Finance Minster to order immediate payment of salaries and arrears of the Steel Mills workers on Eid.
