Thirteen villages of Pasrur tehsil were inundated due to flood in Nullah Dek as the floodwater splashed over its banks near Chahoor village due to recent rains in Sialkot region and in all the catchment areas in neighbouring Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

There were four-to-five feet high floodwater in Pasrur tehsil’s villages including Jabbokey, Nawaadhey, Chahoor, Machchaana, Eispur, Seehowal, Mehtabpur, Hunjali, Tharo Mandi, Shehzada, Bharat and  Khewa Bajwa. The agricultural lands on hundreds of acres were also inundated by the flood water.

District Officer (Coordination) Malik Abid Hussain said that the situation was totally under control.

 He said that the flow of floodwater was 15,000 cusecs in Nullah Dek near Pasrur. He added that the rescue activities were underway by the district administration, Civil Defence and Rescue 1122 workers.

About 12 days ago, Pasrur tehsil’s 27 villages were also inundated due to flood in Nullah Dek near village Chahoor Pasrur tehsil. According to the Sialkot DCO Iftikhar Ali Sahu, the standing seasonal crops on 5,082 acres of agricultural land have been badly affected in 76 villages of Sialkot district’s Sialkot, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils due to floods. On the other side, there was a medium level flood in River Chenab due to heavy rains in all the catchment areas in neighbouring Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

SECTION 144: District administration has imposed a Section 144 of PPC in all the rivers, canals, streams and water channels flowing in Sialkot district. According to the District Officer (Coordination) Malik Abid Hussain, the order has been enforced for a week.
