ISLAMABAD - Terming the presidential elections controversial, Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that PTI has participated in the election, as it does not want to leave the field open for the ruling alliance.

Talking to media persons at Parliament House, PTI Chairman said that their participation in the presidential elections have exposed the 'political romance' between the PML-N and MQM and quickly added that it was consensus view of the participants in 2007 All Parties Conference that till the time MQM would not bring its militant wing to an end, no talks would be held with the party.

To a question Imran Khan said that May 11 elections had broken all previous records of rigging and besides his party, Pakistan People's Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Balochistaan National Party-Mengal and many others were raising voice against the massive rigging in the elections but nobody was ready to listen to their voices.

He said that his party would soon be bringing a white paper on the elections rigging and would present solid evidence of rigging before the nation. He said that they had accepted the mandate of the political parties in the larger interest of the democracy and quickly added that they had asked the Election Commission of Pakistan as well as have filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking verification of votes through thumb impression but so far neither Election Commission nor apex court was responding to their demand.

To another question he said that they had not joined the sit-in of Allama Tahirul Qadri and participated in the elections with the hope that independent Election Commission and apex court would play their role in holding the elections in transparent elections but they were wrong as the following developments were just opposite to their expectations and validated the stance of Allama Tahirul Qadri that no change could be expected from corruption-littered system.

To another question he said that returning officers had played a vital role in rigging the elections and now the role of Election Tribunals are before the people which are working at snail's pace.

To a question about Ayla Malik's fake degree Imran Khan said that his degree was not fake but she was disqualified on technical grounds.

Pointing out dichotomy of judiciary Imran Khan said that on one hand the case of PTI MNA Sarwar Khan was fixed for hearing in High Court but his membership of the National Assembly was suspended.

To a question he said that so far the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was busy cleansing the political and administrative mess created by the previous ruling clique including Maulana Fazlur Rehman. On top of it the fallout of becoming the frontline state in so-called US war against terror and unabated drone attacks had played havoc to the already backward province, he added.

He said that in upcoming local bodies elections in KPK his party would be introducing biometric system in the elections so that nobody could challenge the fairness of these elections.

He further said that they were introducing structural reforms in the province and the people would see the difference in next couple of months.

He further said that they would be sprucing up the intelligence network in the province so that the terrorist activities could be contained.
