DCO Dr Farah Masood, through the powers as the district government administrator, approved annual budget of the district government of Rs5.852 billion for financial year 2013-14 here the other day.
EDO (Finance) Mehr Sultan Ahmad told the media that the district government’s own income was expected at just Rs20 million, while Rs5.539 billion would be provided by the Punjab government.
He added the district government was running in deficit for the last few years, however in the current financial year after receiving an extra amount of Rs300 million the deficit would be cleared and the security bills of government contractors, arrears of retired government employees and utility bills of different government departments would be paid.
He also stated no funds had been received for any new development scheme, adding Rs313 million would be spent on the completion of ongoing development schemes.
