Due to overflowing water in Sindh River, the administration has started overseeing and strengthening Manchan Embankment from Bangla Dil Kusha to Bhong as the floodwater has started damaging the embankment thus its adjoining areas are facing flooding threats.
Near Jamaldin Wali, the water level is increasing in the river thus the floodwater has starting hitting and damaging the Manchan Embankment. Sadiqabad Assistant Commissioner Ch Farooq Qamar along with the officials of Revenue Department and Tehsil Municipal Administration has started overseeing and strengthening the Band so that its adjoining areas could be saved from floodwater by thwarting any untoward situation.
The assistant commissioner told the media that following the directives of the Punjab government, efforts had been launched to strengthen the embankment and the officials concerned are overseeing the areas round the clock so that the adjoining areas could be saved in case of weakening of any part of the embankment to save the city from floodwater. He added that an all-out effort was being made such as provision of modern machinary and workers while the personnel of the TMA and the Revenue Department was also busy working for this purpose.
