PESHAWAR - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister has said that the provincial government is working on emergency basis to overcome the energy crisis in the province with a special focus on hydel power generation.

He added that energy policy of the provincial government aimed at strengthening the economy of the province by increasing the power generation capacity and thus creating maximum employment opportunities in the province.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held here at Chief Minister Secretariat on Tuesday to signing a memorandum of understanding to handover two mini-hydel power stations in Swat to Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP). High-ups of provincial energy and power department and SRSP signed the MoU.

It is worth mentioning here that Ashuran and Kalam Power Stations have been non-functional for some technical reasons for a period of time and the provincial government had principally decided to hand over those stations to SRSP so that they could be made operational without wasting time.
