FAISALABAD
Experts have said the climate change is providing suitable environment for breeding of dengue larva in the region and warned that by the end of this century, the world temperature will rise 1 to 3 degree that can affect half of world population.
They expressed these views at an anti-dengue awareness seminar which was arranged by University of Agriculture Faisalabad here on Thursday.
Addressing the seminar, UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad stressed the need for taking collaborative measures by all segments of society to control population of dengue in the rainy season. He urged people to keep home, environment and surrounding hygiene; remove all stagnant water and containers; avoid accumulation of ground water; fill up all defective grounds and proper dispose of the plastic bags.
Agriculture Faculty Dean Dr M Arshad urged the masses to enhance their role in the campaign by raising awareness. He said that it was responsibility of people to serve community in order to save precious lives.
Speaking of the occasion, Dr Muhammad Jalal Arif said that Entomology department was making all-out efforts to conduct valuable research on dengue and to raise the awareness by arranging seminars, conference in line with the directives of the Punjab govt.
Dr Shahid Majid said that unplanned increasing population, deforestation, urbanisation and climate changes were also causing its outbreak. He said that in the monsoon, there were more chances of its outbreak. He added that there were 3,500 mosquitoes species. He said that the dengue attacks in the time of sunrise and sunset.
