Rawalpindi - Pakistan Customs foiled a smuggling bid at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIAP) yesterday and arrested a passenger who was trying to carry heroin to United Kingdom (UK) while hiding it tactfully in a bridal dress.

The accused, indentified as Muhammad Israr (passport number AP1822333) hails from Kotli, Mirpur. He was handed over to investigation and prosecution branch of Pakistan Customs to ascertain the quantity of recovered heroin. The man who arrived at airport to see off the accused was also arrested.

According to sources, the passenger namely Muhammad Israr arrived at the airport to catch a flight of Shaheen Airline (NL-907) for Manchester.

They said that the passenger managed to dodge the Airports Security Forces but Customs stopped him over his suspicious movements. During course of search of his luggage, Inspector Mudassir found packets of heroin that the passenger concealed tactfully in a bridal dress. The Customs held the passenger immediately and gave him into custody of investigation and prosecution branch for further action.

A Customs officer, seeking anonymity, told The Nation that a case was registered against the accused while one of his accomplices was also arrested from airport premises. He said that Israr is a notorious smuggler and possesses fake passport. “Israr has two passports already and he is trying to fly on the third passport,” he said.
