WORCESTER - Pakistan’s 2-day tour match against Worcestershire ended in draw ahead of the former’s 3rd Test against England at Edgbaston next week.

Worcestershire, who began their day at 30 for no loss continued their steadiness until Rahat Ali drew first blood followed by his second wicket. Imran Khan, Sohail Khan, Zulfiqar Babar and Wahab Riaz picked wicket apiece. There were a few partnerships that helped Worcestershire lead to draw against Pakistan. Few highlighted ones were between Fell and Mitchell while the second one being Mitchell and Joe Clarke. It was Joe Clarke and Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s half-centuries that helped build the foundation for Worcestershire.

Tom and Mitchell started off their innings as they remained unbeaten at 14 at the end of Day 1. They further carried the momentum and added 35 and 49 runs respectively to build strong opening stand of 77 runs. Clarke, who entered at No.3 and skipper Mitchell tried to continue the feat until Sohail left no scope and removed the other opening batsman as well. Clarke, in hindsight, was off the mark with boundaries and added 9 fours and a six that added to the 43-run stand built up for second wicket with Mitchell.

But a lot depended on crucial partnership between Clarke and Kohler-Cadmore’s partnershipthat in turn added the required in the middle. Clarke’s wicket toned down the match for Worcestershire but turned the tables for Pakistan for spur of moment. Further, Kohler-Cadmore was dismissed for 73, followed by Alexei Kervezee and Ross Whiteley. George Rhodes and Ed Barnard remained unbeaten until the game pushed to draw. Earlier, Worcestershire won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan were off to shaky start with early wicket although, their batsman showed grit and confidence against Worcestershire bowlers. Skipper Azhar Ali stood out for his innings of 81 that helped Pakistan declare at 261 for 3.

Complimenting him on the other hand was Shan Masood, who scored 67 along with Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan’s 41 and 49 runs respectively. Worcestershire bowlers Kervezee, Alex Hepburn and Barnard took a wicket each, who have lost their Royal London One-Day Cup matches this week.
