LAHORE - The bullet riddled body of a young girl who was found from a five-star hotel has been handed over to family after autopsy, police said yesterday.

A case has also been registered against unknown persons on the complaint of deceased’s brother.

There was no arrest so far in the case and the police released over a dozen members of hotel staff after questioning them in murder case which occurred Friday evening.

Rabia Nazeer, 25, was a student of Kinnaird College. She was a resident of Batapur and was the only sister with four brothers. She was the captain of cricket team of Queen Mary College, and had recently been conducting cricket classes at Kinnaird College.

Her dead body was found in the washroom of the hotel lobby. There were also bullets and a pistol magazine in her bag.

“We have sent bullets recovered from her purse and other evidences for forensic analysis and after that we will be in position to comment,” a senior police officer told The Nation.

The CCTV footage showed that Rabia entered the hotel alone. It could not be ascertained whether she committed suicide or was murdered, and this would only be revealed in the post-mortem report.

Sources said the hotel administration shifted the body to hospital without informing the police. However, the police authorities took the body into custody and shifted it to a morgue.

Her family members said that they will lodge a case after receiving the post-mortem report. Police are investigating how she managed to carry the weapon in the hotel.

Since she was talking to someone over a phone call at the time of entry in the hotel on The Mall, police have written to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority for her Call Data Record (CDR). Further investigation is in process.
