ISLAMABAD While hundreds of pickets erected in Islamabad are already causing trouble for commuters, yet police personnels deployment seem fruitless as in a crisis they fail. This is what happened on Monday evening when they failed to trace out a mysterious car from which somebody opened fire on a citizen leaving him injured in a populated area of the Capital and fled away. The incident happened in F-11 Markaz, when one person sitting in a luxury car opened fire on a citizen and easily managed to escaped. Police sources said a person a sitting in a black colour car bearing registration number (899) opened fire on a citizen in F/11 Markaz and later fled away towards F/10. The message of the incident was also relayed on police wireless network. On this, according to Police sources, within ten minutes police officials deputed at a picket in Sector F/6 managed to stop a car bearing registration number (899) with the same colour. The car was allegedly owned by a Secretary of the National Assembly. It was also learnt that police also recovered a weapon from a guard on board. After few minutes police let the car go. When contacted, Shalimar Police Stations additional SHO Muhammad Rashid, who was probing into the incident, confirmed the firing incident. However, he said that the car stopped at F/6/3 picket that bearing registration number (899) was not the desired car. He said it was coincidence. To a query, about the weapon, the IO said, Yes there was a weapon with one of the car riders but that was with the licence and it was SMG gun but that citizen received 30 bore bullet shots, he added. He said that police also traced out a car bearing registration number (899), which was parked in Sector 1/10 but that too was not wanted. On the other hand, the injured citizen was rushed to the PIMS for treatment. The hospital sources said that the injured was identified as Gulam Qasim and his health condition said to be out of danger. Till the filing of this report the said car was not recovered.
