LAKKI MARWAT - Hundreds of job-seekers could not appear in the written test held on Tuesday for the posts of junior and senior clerks of Levy Force due to disappearance of their names in the lists of candidates displayed outside the district council hall. The government had recently sanctioned vacancies for the Levy Force upon which the district administration invited applications for different posts of ministerial staff and Levy Force by publishing advertisements in the newspapers. The authorities concerned had fixed March 30 for the written test for the posts of junior and senior clerks but a large number of job-seekers surprised when they came to know that their names were missing in the lists of candidates. We wasted our precious time and spent money to reach District Headquarters Complex, Tajazai, to appear in the test but our names were not included in the lists for the reasons best known to the officials concerned, several candidates complained. They said the authorities should have informed the candidates about the short-listing of applications before the conduct of written test. Some of the candidates said that they appeared in the written test for the posts of assistant and keypunch operator on Monday (March 29) but were deprived of opportunity to appear in the test for junior and senior clerks on Tuesday. When we are eligible for the posts of assistant and keypunch operator then how can one slaughter us with the sharp-edged knife of short-listing and screening for clerical posts, they questioned. An official in the office of District Coordination Officer/Political Agent, Tazagul said that only those applicants who were eligible and fulfilled the criteria for both posts with experience of work in government offices were short-listed after a process of applications screening and were allowed to appear in the test.
