A hospital spokeswoman says three people are dead from a drive-by shooting that wounded six others in the U.S. capital. Carolyn Hammond from Washington Hospital Centre says one victim died at the scene, one was dead on arrival at the hospital, and the third died in the operating room. She said a fourth person is in critical condition. Police Department spokesman Officer Hugh Carew says the shootings of six men and three women happened about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in south-eastern Washington, D.C. Fire Department spokesman Pete Piringer says all the victims were in their 20s and 30s, except for one teenager. Police say three people have been arrested and a weapon recovered. No motive for the shootings is known. Four D.C. officers were slightly injured during a pursuit of a suspects vehicle.
