Judges named to monitor Bahawalpur constituencies

BAHAWALPUR - Election Security Committees and Monitoring Committees of districts have been constituted throughout Pakistan by the Election Commission of Pakistan on the direction of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
In Bahawalpur, Mr Khursheed Ahmed Anjum, Civil Judge 1st Class/Magistrate Section-30, Ahmedpur East and TMO will monitor NA-183 and PP-267-268, Ch Tariq Ali Dhawla, Civil Judge Class-III/Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Bahawalpur and TMO Bahawalpur Sadder will monitor NA-184 and PP-269 and 270, Mr Naveed Bari, Civil Judge 1st Class/ Magistrate Section-30, Bahawalpur and Khawaja Niaz Ahmed, SDO Wapda, Satellite Town, Bahawalpur will monitor NA-185 Bahawalpur-III PP-271 -272, Jam Imtiaz Mehmood, Civil Judge, Class III, Khairpur Tamewali and Tehsil Municipal Officer, Hasilpur, District Bahawalpur will monitor NA-186 and PP-273 -274 while Mr Umar Farooq Awan, Civil Judge 1st Class/ Judicial Magistrate Section-30, Yazman, Tehsil Municipal Officer, Yazman, District Bahawalpur will monitor NA-187 and PP-275 -276.
The district police officer will be responsible for provision of security at the polling stations. In Election Security Committees, the District Returning Officer will be Coordinator while Deputy Commissioner/DCO/Political Agent, District Police Officer/Commandant in FATA and District Election Commissioner will work as member of the committee. The Committee will have the mandate to look after matters relating to maintenance of law and order in the District/Agency during the conduct of elections. Besides, the District Police Officer will prepare contingency plan for provision of security at the polling stations on the day of poll and place it before the Committee for its perusal and approval before it is implemented.
A copy of the contingency plan, after approval by the Committee, shall be sent to the Provincial Election Commissioner, District Election Commissioner and all the Returning Officers in the District/Agency. Monitoring committees had been constituted by the Election commission of Pakistan which will monitor whether the code of conduct issued by the ECP is being implemented with letter and spirit by the candidates of National and Provincial Assemblies or not. Two members' teams, with a video camera, shall monitor the election process including campaign expenditure and observance of Code of Conduct by contesting candidates and political parties. The teams shall report to the Provincial Election Commissioner concerned on daily basis. The Local Administration shall provide necessary security to each team during the duration of their monitoring in the constituency.
