The first Islamic State on earth was founded by Prophet Mohammad S.A.W in Medinah followed by the Righteous Caliphate and then succeeded by Abbasids. After the conquest of Constantinople in 1453 by Sultan Mohammad Fateh, Ottoman Empire became the fortress of Islam and the last Islamic State on earth till day.
On 3rd March 1924, Mustafa Kamal Ataturk abolished the Caliphate. The last Caliph Abdul Majeed was deposed and along with his son and immediate family members was compelled to leave Constantinople during the night.
Al-Ghazali when writing of the potential consequences of losing the Caliphate noted, “The judges will be suspended, the provinces will be nullified, the decrees of those in authority will not be executed and all the people will be on the verge of Haraam.” And that is what happened after the abolishment of Ottoman Caliphate, the authority of Islam was completely abolished. This day the Muslims lost their shield, their guardian and the protector – The Caliphate.
