The district administration has started repairing/reconstruction of 81 schools’ buildings declared dangerous by the government in Sialkot under a multi-phased development programme.

A meeting reviewed the progress of construction work. The administration directed the officials to ensure the use of the quality material in the construction and ensure the timely completion of these projects. It added that the Punjab government is spending Rs110 million on the repairing/reconstruction of dangerous buildings of 81 government schools located in Sialkot district. The government is also spending Rs198 million for providing the missing facilities including the establishment of additional classrooms, toilets, boundary walls , provision of electricity, furniture and potable drinking water to 188 government schools in Sialkot district, the DCO said.

He said that the project would be completed till the end of June 2016. He said that the provincial government is also establishing advanced computer labs in 12 government schools and well-equipped science labs in six government schools in Sialkot district by spending Rs25.4 million.
