ISLAMABAD (APP) - President Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) Sajjad Afzal Cheema here Saturday demanded of the government to enhance status of IHC to that of a Federal High Court besides, construction of a judicial complex in the Federal Capital. Addressing a press conference along with other office bearers, he welcomed the judicial policy and hoped that it would put an end to corruption in judicial system. He said people attached great expectations with the restored judiciary and hoped that Apex Court would provide legal cover to establishment of IHC. IHCBA President said though IHC was established after November 3 steps, but the lawyers community struggled for its establishment and a cherished demand of residents of the Capital was met. He demanded that like other employees, IHC employees should also be provided with the approved facilities and a quota in this regard should be fixed. He demanded of the government and parliament to amicably resolve the issue of establishment of IHC. "A judicial complex with allied facilities should be constructed in Islamabad where the lawyer community should be allocated chambers," he added. To a question he replied in the past those judges upon whom charges of corruption were levelled had to relinquish their offices, but in the current situation if such things happen, Supreme Judicial Council has the prerogative to proceed against such judges. Referring to Swat operation, Cheema said that military operation should be completed as soon as possible and internally displaced persons be sent back to their respective areas. Vice President Shamshair Tariq Ali, general secretary Raja Inam Amin Minhas and others were present during press conference.
