PESHAWAR Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, FATA chapter, has held the ANP-led provincial government responsible for brutal killing of MNA Maulana Mirajuddin Qureshi, who they believed was struggling for the establishment of peace in the region. Addressing a press conference here at press club Maulana Syed Nek Zaman Haqqani, JUI-F General Secretary from tribal belt, said that the martyrdom of Maulana Miraj was an irreparable loss for the entire nation, because he was a symbol of peace. He said that the ANP govt in fact was following the US agenda to create disturbance in Pakistan, particularly in tribal areas, and adding Maulana Qureshi was struggling for the restoration of permanent peace in the region. 'The slain religious scholar, he said, had paid his great role in signing a peace agreement among Pakistani Taliban and the government, only for the sake of restoration of peace. In the present deteriorating law and order situation his only purpose was keeping peace and tranquillity, he maintained. Regarding drone attacks in Waziristan Agency, Maulana Naik Zaman, former MNA, claimed that due to drone assaults the situation would further worsen because only innocent people including women, children and old men were being martyred. The JUI-F FATA general secretary demanded of the government to take measures to stop the attacks to avoid massacre of innocent patriotic tribal people. However, Maulana termed the attacks as open violation of the integrity of the country. The former MNA appealed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to take notice of the killing of ex-MNA Maulana Miraj and probe the case. He also demanded of provincial government to arrest the killers, forthwith, otherwise, they would start protest demonstrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and could be extended across the country. When asked about the government intentions of launching military operation in North Waziristan Agency, he explained that the people were already suffering due to previous operation, and any new action would add to the peoples miseries.
