LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday has given 24 hours to the police for the arrest of the remaining accused nominated in the murder case of a married woman outside Lahore High Court. A high level meeting was presided over by Chief Minister which was attended by IG Police, Secretary Home and CCPO Lahore. The initial report into the murder case of Farzana was presented in the meeting. The CM directed police authorities to ensure immediate arrest of all accused involved in this brutal incident and warned that no laxity will be tolerated in this regard.
Condemned: Condemning the brutal killing of a pregnant woman Farzana, Lahore High Court Bar Association has demanded the government to ensure the arrest of the suspects who tortured her to death. The bar also announced to provide free legal aid to the complaint of her murder. Addressing a press conference, the bar’s secretary Mian Ahmad Chichar said the incident brought a bad name for the country and unsealed poor justice system. Chichar told media persons that the bar was going to form a committee comprising senior lawyers to examine legal points of the murder case and to make recommendations for the government in order to avoid such incidents in future.
Bar’s vice president Amir Jalil Siddiqui demanded of the government to make serious efforts for the arrest of the killers and ensure exemplary punishment for them.
He said that murder of a woman in public is high condemnable especially when police was also present at the site of the tragedy. He said that the committee set up to review the pace of investigation into the case should submit report on daily basis. He said that the accused will be tried in anti-terrorist court and will not be able to escape punishment.
