LAHORE: Punjab University Oriental College’s Department of Urdu has organised a special lecture on “Urdu in Britain”.

Sabina Khan from Manchester University Britain shed light on the topic while Urdu Department Chairman Dr Muhammad Kamran, faculty members, MPhil and PhD students attended the lecture.  In his address Dr Kamran lauded the efforts of Sabina Khan for promoting Urdu in Britain. He stressed that British Pakistani organizations and varsities in Pakistan should work together for promotion of Urdu.  Sabina Khan who does poetry with pen name of Sabz Khan’s collection of poetry “Qadam” presented to the VC. She translated Urdu and Punjabi poems in Roman transcript and English languages in Qadam.  Sabina Khan appreciated PU’s dignity and was delighted to see its historical buildings. In reply of students’ questions she said that the third generation of British Pakistani was unfamiliar with Urdu language and there was dire need to work for promotion of Urdu in Britain. –Staff Reporter
