MAA win Basketball Tournament


ISLAMABAD – MAA won the 46th POF Wah Inter-Factories Basketball Tournament after defeating SAA in the final by 18 baskets at POF auditorium on Friday. MAA never allowed the SAA players to settle down right from the first quarter and finished the first 14-8. They further cemented their lead in the second quarter by finish it at 32, while SAA was far behind at 16. The third quarter was also in favor of MAA, who managed to take the score to 54, while SAA closed the gap to 14 points, but in the fourth and last quarter, MAA scored only 20 baskets, and take their overall score to 72, while SAA could only manage to score 54 baskets. MD MAA Javaid Iqbal was the chief guest on the final, who later awarded trophies and cash prizes to the players. Ishrat Shah of MAA was declared man of the tournament.–Staff Reporter

SBP, Sindh enter U-14 football final
LAHORE – Sports Board Punjab (SBP) and Sindh football teams entered the Inter-Provincial U-14 Boys Football Championship final to be played today (Saturday). SBP boys thrashed Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) 4-0 in the first semifinal while Sindh had to struggle hard for their 1-0 victory against Azad Kashmir in the second semifinal at Boys Degree College ground, Rawalakot, Azad Kashmir on Friday. Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will clash in the third/fourth position encounter before the championship match. SBP’s Raheel Azhar, Mehran, Shahid and Haider scored one goal each for the winners to help them register a thrashing triumph over Gilgit-Baltistan. Sindh edged out Azad Kashmir 1-0 in the second semifinal. Striker Aaqib was the player who struck the match winner.–Staff Reporter

MPAs, Journalists play cricket match today
LAHORE – Hamza Shahbaz MPAs XI will play a friendly cricket match against Journalists XI today (Saturday) here at the Model Town Greens cricket ground. The match will start at 7:30pm. Director General Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Usman Anwar will be the chief guest on this occasion. Member National Assembly (MNA) Hamza Shahbaz will lead the MPAs XI as other members of his team are Rana Mashhod Ahmed, Pervaiz Malik, Malik Afzal Khokhar, Mehar Ishtiaq Ahmed, Sohail Shoukat Butt, Mian Naseer Ahmed, Ramzan Siddique Bhatti, Saif Khokhar, Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Mian Mohsin Lateef, Malik Waheed, Ch Shahbaz and Majid Zahoor. Fahad Ajmal will lead the Journalists XI team while Nasir Masood will assist him as vice caption. City42 is organising the entire event in collaboration with Sports Board Punjab.–Staff Reporter

Tayyab finishes top in squash trials
ISLAMABAD – Tayyab Aslam finished top in the trial matches for the selection of Pakistan team for the World Junior Team Squash Championship, after defeating Ali Bokhari in the seventh and last match at Mushaf Ali Mir Squash Complex on Friday. Tayyab won the first game 11-8, but the second was dominated by Ali as he brushed aside Tayyab to take the game 11-2. Tayyab once again showed quality to take the third game 11-8 but Ali once again came from behind to take the fourth game 11-5. After giving tough competition in four games, Ali was completely exhausted and Tayyab took full advantage of it and won the fifth game 11-4 to register 3-2 victory. Tayyab won seven out of seven matches while Ali won six and lost one, Asim won five and lost two while won four and lost three.–Staff Reporter
