The role of media in the fight against crime is of great significance and the dream of crime elimination can be materialised with the cooperation of mediamen.
Addressing journalists at press club here, Bahawalnagar DPO Athar Ismail Amjad lauded the role of mediamen, saying that journalists were eyes and ears of society.
The DPO pledged that eradication of crime and maintenance of law and order was the prime duty of the police and with the cooperation of the media, the police would efficiently discharge this obligation. The DPO sought the journalists cooperation, saying collective efforts would help create sense of security in society.
Athar Ismail Amjad informed that the district police had taken effective measures for the eradication of crime which had yield positive results. Social crimes which had been unabated in the past, have drastically been decreased which could be witnessed,” he highlighted. He further said that he had also taken steps to purge the department of ‘black sheep.’
Later, the DPO lauded Bahawalnagar Press club which the sole old platform of real and active journalist. On the occasion, DSP Sadar Khawar Zaman Lodhi, DSP Headquarters Nawaz Sial and office bearers and members of Bahawalnagar Press Club were also present. The BPC office bearers welcomed the DPO at the press club and assured of all out support for the eradication of crime and maintenance of law and order in the district.
