ISLAMABAD  - Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday ordered re-polling on 33 polling stations in PP-97 Gujranwala, recalling the notification of PML-N MPA Muhammad Ashraf Warraich.

The ECP in a notification issued here fixed June 21 as polling day on the 33 polling stations declaring null and void the election of MPA Muhammad Ashraf Warraich till new results surface after completion of polling on the polling stations.

An election tribunal headed by Justice Kazim Malik had ordered to hold re-polling on 33 polling stations of PP-97 Gujranwala within 60 days. The decision was taken in response to a petition filed by PML-Q leader Nasir Cheema who also contended for the same seat. The petitioner had alleged rigging in PP-97 and claimed that Warraich victory was engineered.
