Peshawar: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has vowed complete investigation into reports of rigging during Saturday’s local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where his party secured majority of seats, said sources.

“We will look into each and every complaint of rigging. Our government will investigate all reports of malpractice,” Khan told reporters.

The largest local government elections in KPK history were marred by sporadic incidents of violence, mismanagement and reports of rigging, as violence claimed nine lives.

In violation of election code of conduct, polling process on more than 150 polling stations was disturbed by agitators in different areas.

Ruling PTI is leading in the polls according to unofficial results, with its ally Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in second place, followed by the JUI-F that claimed its third spot in the polls.

The JI blames PTI for mismanagement in the election whereas the ruling PTI has passed the buck to election commission.
