LAHORE - The elections of Society of Surgeons of Pakistan for 2015-2017 have been completed.

According to the notification by Chief Election Commissioner Prof Mahmood Ayyaz, Prof  Kamran Khalid Khawaja, Professor of Surgery from Fatima Jinnah Medical College and Dr Ahmed Uzair Qureshi from King Edward Medical University have been elected unopposed as President and General Secretary respectively. Other office bearers are Vice President Prof Hammad Naeem Rana, Finance Secretary, Dr Khizar Hayat Gondal, Joint Secretary, Dr Fawad Karim and Publication Secretary, Dr Muhammad Shabbir Chohan.

Congratulating the newly-elected officebearers Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, President of Society of Surgeons Pakistan (Centre) and Prof Moeed Iqbal Qureshi, ex-President Society of Surgeons of Pakistan (Lahore Chapter) hoped that the society will play its designated role for the better training of surgeons.

 “The Society will also play a role in launching new fellowships in the field of surgery under the patronage of College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan. There is a shortage of specialists. The new officebearers would be helpful for the provision of surgeons in these specialties on the basis of their vast higher medical education experience. The newly elected office bearers would also turn out to be good advisors to meet the ever growing demand of surgeons at Tehsil and District level for the provision of medical facilities to the common people, ” a press released added.
