Either of two

President and PM have stopped WAPDA from unscheduled loadshedding. They do not understand how the system works. If voltage at a substation drops dangerously low, the load has to be shed to avoid damage to very expensive equipment. This is in the interest of both WAPDA and the consumer. The choice is between tripping power of the public or the industry. So far WAPDA has been tripping power being supplied to the public but now with the hue and cry from people, it will have no choice but to choke the windpipe of the industry. Trip it must. -KHURSHID ANWER, Lahore, via e-mail, October 22.
